|
Date: February 21, 2023 Time: 1:30 pm - 2:45 pm Location: Show map JCC of Middlesex County 1775 Oak Tree Road Edison, NJ 08820 and a Conversation with the Film's Producer, Ilana Trachtman
This Screening is in Acknowledgement of Jewish Disability Awareness, Acceptance, and Inclusion Month. "Praying with Lior" asks whether someone with Down syndrome can be a spiritual genius. Many believe Lior is close to God -- at least that's what his family and community believe -- though he's also a burden, a best friend, an inspiration and an embarrassment, depending on who is asked and when. As this documentary moves to its climax, Lior must pass through the gateway to manhood - his Bar Mitzvah. "Praying with Lior" has garnered 6 Audience Awards for Best Documentary, the Grand Prix at the International Disability Film Festival in Moscow, and was a critic's pick of the New York Times, New York Magazine, Washington Post and Philadelphia Inquirer. This program is co-sponsored by The Jewish Federation in the Heart of New Jersey. REGISTRATION FEE: FREE & OPEN TO THE COMMUNITY TO REGISTER: Call the JCC Front Desk at 732-494-3232.
