JANUARY 2022 TOPIC SCHEDULE

Wednesday, January 5: The New Jersey Parole System-Does it work? Is it Fair? There are many myths about the Parole system gleaned from TV and movies. In reality the system is complex. Does the system look for reasons to deny parole? Is Parole given too easily? Are there biases in the Parole system? Let’s discuss.

Wednesday, January 12: Parenting in 2022-If you knew then what you know now, how would you parent? No one taught you how to be a parent. If you knew when you first became a parent what you know now, would you have parented your child(ren) differently than you did? Do you think you would have been a better parent or simply different? Would your parenting style or methods have changed at all? Do you think you were a good parent?

Wednesday, January 19: A Bucket List? Do you have one? Do you need one? Psychologists believe that it is important to have a bucket list because it provides a set of goals to accomplish? Do you agree? Do you have a bucket list? What is one remaining bucket list item for you?

Wednesday, January 26: The National Debt…Is it real and does it really matter? At the end of 2020 the U.S. had federal debt of nearly $27 trillion. So what? No matter how large the federal debt, the government can print more money. Does the federal debt actually matter? What about the federal deficit? Do we need to worry about the national debt and the deficit? Are there times and circumstances during which they matter more or less? Is there a limit to debt sustainability?
