Maya Angelou was an American poet, memoirist and civil rights activist.  She published seven autobiographies, three books of essays, several books of poetry, and is credited with a list of plays, movies and television shows spanning over 50 years.  She received dozens of awards and more than 50 honorary degrees.  Irene Curran will talk about Angelou’s life and her writing; some of her most famous poems will be read and discussed.

Irene Curran is a retired teacher who now spends her time giving talks in New Jersey and Florida on her favorite poets, authors and historical figures.  She continues to tell their stories.
