OSTEOPOROSIS: Become Informed
Presented by: Shannon McErlean, PT
Osteoporosis is a condition in which bones become weak and brittle. The body constantly absorbs and replaces bone tissue. With Osteoporosis, new bone creation does not keep up with old bone removal. Many individuals have no symptoms until they have a bone fracture. Treatment may include medications, healthy diet and weight-bearing exercise to help prevent bone loss and to strengthen already weak bones. Ms. McErlean will inform the participants about risks and ways to prevent and manage Osteoporosis. From the perspective of this Physical Therapist, experience the benefit of exercise, physical activity and how Physical Therapy may help you.
Shannon McErlean, a physical therapist in the Outpatient Department at the JFK Medical Center Johnson Rehabilitation Institute in Edison, has 5 years of experience working with patients with neurologic and orthopedic conditions.
