DISCUSSION DATES:

Thursday, February 26, 2026 @ 11AM - March is National Women’s History Month: The National Women’s History Alliance (NWHA) has chosen "Leading the Change: Women Shaping a Sustainable Future" to be the 2026 theme for Women's History Month. The intention of this theme is to expand our understanding of sustainability beyond just environmental concerns. It encompasses financial sustainability, community resilience, leadership succession, and intergenerational equity. Whether developing green technologies, advancing economic justice, strengthening education systems, or building civic power – women are designing blueprints for sustainable transformation. This theme affirms that shaping a sustainable future means fostering systems that support both people and the planet. Let's discuss.

Thursday March 26, 2026 @ 11AM - No Discussion Group / JCC Community - Model Seder.

Thursday April 30, 2026 @ 11:00am  -  Yom HaShoah/Holocaust Remembrance Day:  Earlier this month we commemorated Yom HaShoah.  Ceremonies were held around the nation and the world, including in our community at the JCC.  Why is this important?  What is the significance of "bearing witness"?  How do we balance universal lessons with the unique Jewish experience when we commemorate Yom HaShoah?  What is the significance of Yom HaShoah to you?   Let's discuss.

Thursday May 28, 2026 @ 11:00am  -  Empowering Ourselves and Each Other:  Empowerment is a key concept that underlies every successful personal change effort and gives us the best chance of achieving our goals.  Every one of us has encountered disempowering experiences.  What makes the difference between letting these events defeat us and being able to put them in perspective and move forward?  Let's discuss our own experiences with empowerment and how we have been able to empower others.
Thursday June 25, 2026 @ 11:00am  -  Juneteenth:  On June 19, 1865 , enslaved African Americans in Texas were told that they were free.  Also known as "Freedom Day", June 19th commemorates the end of slavery in the United States.  What do you know about June 19th?  Was the significance of this date known to you prior to it becoming a holiday in 2021?  Do the events of Juneteenth (1865) relate to the racial inequality still experienced today?  Let's discuss.

This program is co-sponsored by The Jewish Federation in the Heart of New Jersey.
